Why choose Susan Mackenzie as your Interior Designer?

Susan Mackenzie

Susan believes the most important tool she brings to your interior project is the ability to listen and to respond to your needs, desires and dreams. Her goal is to help you define and create your vision of enduring beauty, harmony and function in your living space or working place.

Susan's artist’s eye and broad appreciation for the decorative arts evolved from formal studies in anthropology, studio art, art history and feng shui, and living and traveling extensively in Europe.

Susan's Interior Design Background

A confessed “fabricholic”, Susan began developing her eye over 25 years ago, first as a batik artist, exhibiting and selling her work through galleries, then as a designer and fabricator of custom window treatments and other soft furnishings.

In 1999, recognizing a demand for creative design by the Southern Oregon community, Susan joined forces with Barbara Cryer to form Hands On: A Design Team. When Barbara retired in 2006, Susan carried on the vision as Susan Mackenzie Interiors.

Clients from Ashland to Portland include commercial enterprises, contractors – for their own homes, for their clients and for spec homes, the City of Grants Pass, and individuals whose homes range from log to Oriental to Victorian to European Country.

She has also given of her talents in many Jackson and Josephine County community efforts. For many years she was the set designer for Stillpoint Ballet Studio’s local Nutcracker production; she has served on various committees with the City of Grants Pass including set designer for Concerts in the Park and the Main Street Program; she was décor chair for the AAUW Kitchen Tour in its first two years and a featured kitchen decorator for the third annual event; and is a community volunteer with ArtWorks.
